Weddings and celebrations
The date is fixed, the guest list moves, and the invitations have to be posted long before either feels settled. Everything below is grouped by when it is actually needed rather than by what it is.
Before you order
- Order invitations with a margin for the guest list growing. It nearly always does, and a second short run costs far more per card than including the extras in the first.
- Send save the dates early and invitations later. They are two printed items because they do two jobs — one holds the date, the other carries details that are often not settled yet.
- Check every name and date on the proof, twice, with someone who was not involved in writing it. An error approved is printed faithfully across the whole run.

Questions
How early should wedding invitations be ordered?
Allow at least a month before you intend to post them. Production and transit account for one to two weeks, and the rest is the part people underestimate: agreeing wording, checking names and approving a proof. Save the dates can go out much earlier and take that pressure off.
Can I order extra invitations later?
Yes, but it costs more per card than including them at the start, because a second run pays a second setup that is then divided among very few copies. Ordering ten per cent more than the current guest list is usually cheaper than a top-up.
Can invitations be printed in Hindi or a regional language?
Yes. Supply the text as artwork with the fonts embedded — a PDF is safest — because a font that is not embedded can be substituted during printing, which mangles non-Latin scripts in ways that are not always obvious on screen.
